More than just a stylish accessory, the Akaa Necklace carries a story from Ghana where these beads were skillfully crafted from recycled glass bottles.
Our necklaces are crafted using beads sourced from the Eastern region of Ghana, where artisans skilfully repurpose recycled glass bottles into these beautiful beads. The beads are then strung onto wax thread by the Earth Age team to create each unique piece.
The length of this necklace is adjustable. It can be worn at various desired lengths, making it great to layer with other necklaces, and even pulled tighter to wear as a choker. The smallest possible circumference is 30cm. When loosened as much as possible the necklace has a circumference of 80cm (this also enables you to get the necklace on and off over your head).
While these glass beads are fairly durable, taking care to store your necklace properly will prevent chipping and scratchings. You may notice a waxy feeling to the thread, but this wears off with time and becomes softer. These necklaces can withstand a shower or a swim, but to ensure longevity we recommend keeping this to a minimum.
