Hemp
A truly miraculous plant: fast-growing, low impact, and requiring no chemical inputs. It absorbs more carbon dioxide than trees and demands minimal water for rapid growth. While current regulations in South Africa limit its cultivation, we source our hand-twisted hemp from China, where it has been cultivated for centuries. South Africa’s climate is ideal for hemp farming, and we remain hopeful for local change.
Cotton
The cotton used in our crochet pieces is grown and spun in South Africa, supported by a supply chain committed to sustainable practices. While not certified organic, it is cultivated with the same guiding principles, as well as utilizing renewable energy sources, recycled and borehole water, and Oeko-Tex-certified non-toxic dyes.
Merino Wool
Our Merino wool is locally sourced, non-mulesed, and hand-spun with care in the Karoo, Eastern Cape. These delicate yarns are dyed using tannin-rich plant waste, resulting in earthy hues that stand in contrast to toxic commercial dyes. Our natural dyes are crafted to be kind: gentle on your skin, safe for the artisans, and protective of Earth's water streams.
Mohair
Sourced from Angora goats in the Karoo region of South Africa, our mohair is a product of ethical farming and traditional craft. The goats roam freely and are shorn twice a year. Once spun by hand, the fibres are dyed with non-toxic substances to preserve their purity and reduce environmental harm.
Recycled Glass Beads
Our jewellery and select hat designs are adorned with glass beads handmade in Ghana, a country celebrated for its rich bead-making heritage. Each bead carries a distinct character, skilfully crafted by artisans who repurpose recycled glass bottles.
