Empowering women through craft

When woman gather, the energy is powerful and scared. Earth Age has become more than a platform to expand our skills and creativity; it’s a space where we feel the love and support of a community.

We believe women in South Africa deserve access to a positive, safe, and creative workspace where their skills and voices are valued. At Earth Age, we’re dedicated to providing that environment, empowering women to generate income and build sustainable livelihoods.

Your support not only directly benefits these women and their families but also enables us to expand our reach, offering opportunities and skills development to more women across the country. In a nation grappling with high unemployment and gender-based violence, we are honoured to provide a safe and supportive space for women to thrive.

Our vibrant Woodstock studio

Our studio in Woodstock, Cape Town  is a vibrant hub of creativity -filled with a diverse collective of women who collaborate and inspire each other. We are now a growing team of twenty. Eight women work in the studio daily: our founders Amy, Elektra, and Ashley; Precious, our Head of Crochet; Phumza, our seamstress; and Phindi, Zenande, and Thumeka, who specialise in a range of handcrafts including overlocking, beading, and fraying. Our sales team — Noma and Mercy— are the warm faces you’ll meet at our stores. The crochet team is composed of full- and part-time artisans who work from home and visit the studio weekly. This structure offers flexibility, particularly for mothers and older women, and supports a model of work that respects personal rhythms and domestic responsibilities. Our current crochet team includes Ester, Monica, Florence, Beaular, Mercy, Ntombi, Mavis, Merjury, and Tarisia.

Weaving Stories, Connecting Generations

We are a tight-knit group, held together by a shared sense of purpose and care. Whether through the nimble hands of our crocheters and sewers, or the attention of our order team, every contribution plays a vital role in our collective success.

At Earth Age, we create more than just fashion accessories; we weave together stories and connect generations. Each piece carries the legacy of the women who crocheted it - the wisdom of their mothers and grandmothers who passed down this skill. Our creations are a tapestry of lives, experiences, and shared artistry, embodying the journeys of those who bead, sew, and stitch every detail, and the stories we've come to know.
